Say which papers and limits the Gaviota must comply with — registration (matrícula), certificate (certificado), area (zona), persons on board and qualification (titulación) — and how to navigate inside the port: at what speed, whom to give way to and what is prohibited.

Terms

Matrícula (Registro de Buques)
Toda embarcación deberá estar matriculada, es decir, inscrita en una lista del Registro de Buques, y llevar a bordo la documentación requerida para su tipo; las de recreo con fines lucrativos se inscriben en la lista 6ª. La matrícula debe mostrarse de forma clara en las amuras.
Registration (matrícula, Registro de Buques) — Every vessel must be registered (matriculada), that is, entered in a list of the ship register (Registro de Buques), and carry on board the documents required for its type; recreational craft used for profit (con fines lucrativos) are entered in list 6 (lista 6ª). The registration mark (matrícula) must be clearly displayed on the bows (amuras).
Zona de navegación (tipo de navegación)
La embarcación no podrá sobrepasar las limitaciones relativas a su tipo de navegación (zonas 7, 6, 5, 4…).
Navigation area (zona de navegación, tipo de navegación) — The vessel may not exceed the limits of its type of navigation (tipo de navegación): zones 7, 6, 5, 4…
Número de personas a bordo
Nunca se embarcan más tripulantes de los que permite el certificado correspondiente.
Number of persons on board — The number of crew (tripulantes) stated in the relevant certificate must not be exceeded.
Embarcaciones de recreo ante el tráfico de buques (puertos y canales de acceso)
No estorbarán el tráfico del resto de buques: se separarán de sus derrotas y atenderán a sus señales sin dar lugar a que estos tengan que maniobrar.
Recreational craft (embarcaciones de recreo) and shipping traffic (harbours and access channels) — They shall not impede the traffic of other vessels: they keep clear of their tracks (derrotas) and heed their signals without causing them to manoeuvre.
Titulación requerida
Las embarcaciones de recreo deberán ser patroneadas por personal en posesión de la titulación requerida.
Required qualification (titulación requerida) — Recreational craft (embarcaciones de recreo) must be skippered by persons holding the required qualification (titulación).
Certificado de navegabilidad
Documento que certifica que la embarcación ha pasado el reconocimiento y reúne los requisitos de seguridad y navegabilidad para salir a la mar.
Certificate of seaworthiness — Document certifying that the craft has been surveyed and meets the safety and seaworthiness requirements to put to sea.
Reglamento de Policía de Puerto
Lo publica la Autoridad Portuaria y es de obligado cumplimiento. Normas generales: prohibido pescar y bañarse, achicar sentinas, fondear o parar en lugares que impidan el paso y verter al agua residuos de gasoil, basuras o aguas sucias; práctico obligatorio para la entrada de buques mayores de 50 TRB; atender siempre las indicaciones del Capitán Marítimo; colocar las defensas en el atraque y reforzar amarras con temporal.
Port police regulations (Reglamento de Policía de Puerto) — Published by the Port Authority (Autoridad Portuaria) and mandatory. General rules: fishing and swimming are prohibited, as are pumping out bilges (achicar sentinas), anchoring or stopping where this obstructs passage, and discharging diesel residues (gasoil), garbage or sewage into the water; a pilot (práctico) is compulsory for vessels over 50 GRT (TRB) entering port; always follow the instructions of the Harbour Master (Capitán Marítimo); put out fenders (defensas) when berthed and double up the mooring lines (amarras) in heavy weather (temporal).
Preferencia en puerto: buques que salen
Dentro del puerto, el buque que sale tiene preferencia sobre el que entra.
Priority in port (preferencia): vessels leaving — In port, vessels leaving have priority over those entering.
Velocidad máxima en el interior del puerto
En el interior del puerto hay que ir siempre despacio: como máximo, 3 nudos.
Maximum speed inside the port — Inside the port, always proceed slowly, at a maximum speed of 3 knots (nudos).
